These things are fast and easy to mod. Too bad you don't see a lot of them out representing like the good old days. The best pass was recorded on 11/23/08 at Edgewater Dragway. The air was excellent (-1100 ft DA), and the track prep was outstanding that day. Too bad it was a solo pass - I would have liked to drop that 12.51 on an SRT8 or Corvette.

Before the transformation into what is better known to my friends as "THE ROCKET", the truck was pretty much a base model in "83", it had very few option. The truck came factory with a 1.9 litre 4 cyl. and a 700 R4 transmission.

• It has taken me a few years to transform the truck into what it is today. At this time the truck has a 406 small block chevy, power glide transmission and a 9 in. ford rearend with 5.14 gears, a strange spool and moser axles. It has a custom paint job, lowered 2"front and 2 inch rear, three inch cowl hood and centerline warrior wheels, headman headers, just to mention a few of the modifications. The truck is also backhalved with 14/32 slicks.

• Right now as we speak, I am putting the bottle to it, going to try and spray it with a 150 shot of nitrous.

It has taken me quite a few years but gradually I am getting all the bugs worked out. When I first got the truck put together, the best ET I could get was a 10.9 and now my fastest is 6.22. I have fixed my tremendous tire spin problem but still need to line out my suspension if I want to get into the 5's. The other racers say the combination I have has the potential of 5.80's. I've owned the truck for several years, and never done much to it. Took it to Byron dragway a few weeks back and first run ever was a 15.2 after a 3 1/2 hour drive, with no traction bars on fairly bald RS-A's which meant a lot of wheelspin and a 2.6 60'. I ran my 13.9 pass in full street trim with over a 1/2 tank of fuel. The 1.9 60' was spinning all 4 tires leaving the line at 6lbs boost in 4 hi. Judging by my trap speed and 60' time I'm pretty certain that 13.6 to 7s are attainable with this setup (I'll just need to crank down the torsion bars to get the weight transfer) I really love this truck. I can use it to tow huge loads, take my wife on a date, drive through a muddy field on my ranch, haul a ton of crap in the back and in the the cab, drive my family to church, and whoop up on a few cars and lots of trucks :) One of my favorite kills was a stock 1997 5.7 LT1 TransAm..... whipped him good in the quarter mile. We both had a passenger but his passenger weighed quite a bit. After winning the first race by a nice margin, I asked his passenger to ride with me and my passenger in order to give the pontiac a better chance. I then whipped him again.. but just barely. :)
